Tom Pidcock doesn’t want to choose between Tour de France 2024 And Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Englishman wants to defend the Mountain Bike title won in Tokyo 2020 three years ago, but, at the same time, he aims to be among the protagonists of the Grande Boucle, despite the two events being decidedly very close in the calendar. In the lead-up to the two big events, the representative of the Ineos Grenadiers he will not spare himself and, at the same time, he will not favor one specialty over the other, which he instead preferred not to do Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who instead decided to concentrate on the road, abandoning the Olympic goal in MTB for this season.

“I’m not training as much as I should on the mountain bike – Pidcock’s words in an interview given to Cycling Weekly – Although the two types of training are quite interchangeable. Of course, at this time of year I’m doing longer efforts, in preparation for the Tour, with a higher volume of training. But the two things are complementary.”

However, the Englishman chose to add a further match MTB World Cup before Grand Départ of Florence. Pidcock, who won just a few days ago in Nové Město (Czechia), has in fact also announced his presence at the test which will take place in Crans Montana (Switzerland) on Sunday 23 June, just 6 days before the first stage of the Tour de France) .

In an attempt to make the most of all the time available, Pidcock has just given himself a rather particular workout. His trip to Czechia ended with the return by plane to Barcelona, from where the Englishman then returned to where he lives, namely Andorra. To do it, however, he used the bicycle, covering 230 kilometres, with around 4 thousand meters of positive difference in altitude: “It’s kind of a tradition for me, during the spring I do a long ride after doing some mountain biking. It’s fun and it’s also an easy way to train.”
