Corriere della Sera attributes some quotes to the Livorno coach which describe all the tension experienced in the last 12 months
Now that the year is coming to an end, the tensions accumulated by Massimiliano Allegri in all these months at Juventus: “Luckily soon this situation will be concluded” would be the words pronounced by the coach in recent days reported by Corriere della Sera. It all stems from last season, troubled because it was characterized by the penalization for the Prisma investigation and the elimination of the company top management, a situation which made Allegri and it made him perceive that he was the only point of reference for the team and fans. “It was a miracle to end the season with that ranking” Max-thought about fourth place only escaped due to penalty points.
And precisely for this reason the Tuscan coach expected greater weight in the choice of the new sporting director: he would have wanted the promotion of Giovanni Manna (who will now go to Napoli) from the Under 23s or the hiring of Giovanni Rossi from Sassuolo. And instead, without Andrea Agnelli (a strong supporter of Allegri) at the helm of the club, Cristiano Giuntoli arrived with whom he never found the right feeling. An example? The January transfer market: to continue to keep pace with Inter’s Scudetto, Allegri is asking for an experienced midfielder like Bonaventura or Pereyra while Giuntoli chooses Alcaraz, who not surprisingly found very little space on the pitch.
Corriere della Sera reveals that in February, shortly after the championship clash lost against Inter, Giuntoli meets Thiago Motta demonstrating that the club had already chosen to change coach. Allegri senses it but, in private, the Football Director never confirms it to him. A mistake, according to the coach: the club should have communicated it to him as well as to the team, calling them to responsibility for the end of the season.
Instead Max claims to have coached for the entire second half of the season delegitimized in front of the locker room: “This year I was the lightning rodwe’ll see who will be next season” the last thought before the farewell.
