Termoli. The lawyer Eduardo Sassi passed away yesterday at the age of 84

One of the best-known lawyers in southern Molise, Eduardo Sassi, husband of city councilor Marcella Stumpo, died at the age of 84 on the night between Thursday and Friday at the Larino hospice, where he had been hospitalized due to the worsening of his condition. The clinical picture worsened right at the beginning of the election campaign, with her wife always being by her side during these difficult weeks, despite the approaching vote. The funeral of Eduardo Sassi, regional councilor with the centre-left (elected on the list) from 1995 to 2000, will be celebrated this afternoon, at 3.30 pm, in the church of the Sacred Heart. Many certificates of condolence. «The activists and militants of Termoli bene comune-Network of the Termoli left are rallying around Marcella Stumpo saddened by the passing of the lawyer Eduardo Sassi, a man of depth, far-sighted, attentive and acute observer of society. An esteemed professional and former regional councilor from 1995 to 2000, elected with Marcello Veneziale as the first president of the Center Left of the Molise Regional Council, he has been able to maintain strong values and a sincere spirit. We had the honor of knowing the solid and strong bond that exists between him and Marcella. Our closeness and affection to dear Marcella and her children.” «It is with enormous sadness that we learned of the passing of the lawyer Eduardo Sassi, wife of fellow councilor Marcella Stumpo. Some of us knew him both personally and professionally and it is impossible not to remember his human and professional qualities. He leaves a huge void in the family but also in the city of Termoli and we believe that he will always be remembered for his political commitment in the regional center left and in our city. A big hug to councilor Marcella Stumpo and our deepest condolences to the whole family.” This is the message of condolence from Angelo Sbrocca, Andrea Casolino, Manuela Vigilante and Oscar Scurti. The lawyer Laura Venittelli also joins in the condolences. «A great lawyer has passed away, a professional who enchanted with his refined speech and the argumentative skills he brought to bear in the defense of his clients. Personally, I will always remember him with esteem and stewardship. Rip Eduardo! Condolences dear Professor Stumpo.” «The lawyer Sassi was also a regional councilor but above all in the exercise of his functions he did not hesitate to take a stand for healthcare and in particular that of lower Molise. A very rare example of dedication which he expressed by preferring to lose his seat rather than renounce the commitments made towards citizens for the protection of public health. An example of coherence and attachment to the common good that deserves to be remembered and which leaves everyone with an indelible and shining example of political honesty and generosity with the willingness to renounce one’s own interests for the sake of defending public health.” This is how Giancarlo Totaro remembers him. Furthermore, a personal message from Oreste Campopiano: «The passing of Eduardo Sassi is a painful event for the Bar and for the entire Termoli community. His life, professional and social, was for everyone an example of respect, kindness, profound culture, great acumen and intelligence. My moving memory goes to the great and esteemed criminal lawyer, to his uncommon ability to speak, to the human passion that he knew how to convey in the delicate exercise of defence, of rights and of the law of which he had a profound knowledge. An example for those who – like me – have had the honor of sharing a good part of their long professional life in the courtrooms as well as due to the ancient relationships of familiarity, respect and esteem that mutually bound our fathers. Eduardo’s name will remain in the history of the lawyers of this area among the many great names that our small reality has expressed… To all his family, to his wife Marcella who was lovingly close to him until the last moment and to his children Alessandro I extend my deepest condolences and my deepest sympathy to Jacopo.” Primo Piano Molise and Teleregione send their condolences to the Sassi family and Marcella Stumpo.
