Emanuele Becchis wins the supersprint in Sweden – La Guida

The “support” changes but the result does not change. Also in Sweden, but on cross-country skis, Emanuele Becchis proved to be the most explosive “skater” by winning the 100 meters, a supersprint race held on the morning of Friday 19 April. Despite a mix-up at the start, with the Italian athletes included in the last qualifying heats (with a partially “ruined” competition field), the roller skiing World Champion immediately set the best time, leaving over 100 opponents behind. From the round of 16 onwards, Johansson, Norberg and Hellweger bowed to the excessive power of the Bovesan, in order. The final featured the two favorites from the day before, Becchis and the home athlete Marcus Grate (the strongest Swedish sprinter in the cross-country skiing World Cup). The success of the man from Bovesa who, among other things, is also the world record holder in the 100 meters on skis was clear. “I’m happy with today’s race – commented Becchis – even though he still doesn’t have the leg he had in previous years. However, I managed to work very well in the last two months and this start to the season is a great stimulus for the next commitments.” Commitments that will see the Bovesano involved in the stages of the Roller Ski World Cup in July and August, a prologue for the key event of the year, the world championships in September.
