Bologna, 2 May 2024 – First truly difficult grand prix for Pedro Acosta in his debut in Moto GP. After the podiums achieved in Portimao and Austin, the youngest ever to do two in a row, a competitive Acosta was also expected at home in Jerez, but instead a bad qualifying and a crash in the warm up jeopardized Sunday’s race with the sad tenth place finish. He is part of the normal growth process of the young baby phenomenon and also of a competitive KTM, yes, but not everywhere, at least still a step below Ducati. Acosta still has time until the Sachsenring to become the youngest ever to win a Moto GP grand prix and the reality check in Jerez can benefit the overall growth of him and the team. Further steps are needed to compete for victories and the world championship.
Acosta: “Too many expectations”
Ktm era arrives in Jerez with a very high level of expectation after the results of the first grand prix, but things went differently. Until you cross the finish line there are no certainties. Predictions are of little use.” It was nevertheless an eloquent weekend for KTM, less performing after the excellent initial grand prix. And this will also help the brand continue to work hard and get closer to Ducati, still the leader despite the concessions given to the Japanese brands. Europe, in any case, commands the MotoGP.
