Canadian Central, champion of France, welcome Jordan Schnitzer

Come back a Canadian in Milan and the French champion Jordan Schnitzer, 24 year old center back (he will turn 25 on July 28th). Grew up on the varsity team Trinity Western Spartans, he has already played in two European championships. He crushed and walled up a year in Germany for theSVG Lüneburgwhen his explosive 198 centimeters attracted the attention of the ambitious French club Saint-Nazaire Volley-Ball Atlantique. A team that wanted him last season and saw him among the absolute protagonists of the final victory in Ligue A against Tours. A great jumper, as can also be seen from some of his photographs, Jordan Ralph Schnitzer he attacks with his right hand and also has an excellent jump serve. He is part of the fearsome Canadian national team coached by Tuomas Sammelvuo and involved in the VNL next summer, where Schnitzer is confident of finding a starting shirt for the Paris Games.

Here is a first interview with the new Allianz Milan power plant.

Jordan you have chosen to come to Italy for a new step in your growing career. Canadians here generally do very well, see Hoag, Maar, Loeppky and Szwarc, what do you expect from the experience with Allianz Milano?

“I’ve heard very good things about both the team and obviously the city, so I’m sure I’ll really enjoy this experience. The Italian Super League is a very competitive championship, I’m just waiting to be put to the test together with my teammates to achieve the best possible result.”

Speaking of results, it will be the summer of the Paris Olympic Games, what is your goal?

“Obviously my goal is to get into the Canadian shortlist for the Olympics too and then I will do everything to earn a starting role. Ultimately, if I can summarize without risking sounding irreverent, the goal is to win an Olympic gold with Canada.”

What type of player are you? Tell us a little about yourself.

“I’m almost 25 years old and I’m from the west coast of Canada – Surrey, British Columbia, his hometown has 600,000 inhabitants and is the 11th most populous center in Canada – I’ve played in Germany and France and this will be my first season in Italy. I am a rather easy-going person and I like to experience new places and new cultures. And, it may sound corny, but I can’t wait to try the Italian version of espresso, pasta and pizza!”

You are called to replace Agustin Loser on the pitch and in the hearts of the fans. Do you feel the weight of this responsibility?

“It will certainly be a nice void to fill, given that Agustin Loser was really a very strong central defender, especially when blocking. However, this motivates me to give my best and also improve the results achieved by Allianz Milano in the past season.”

Have you already spoken to coach Piazza?

“Roberto Piazza is a great coach and I can’t wait to meet him. At the moment we only spoke at a distance.”

Do you have a message for the city and the fans?

“Absolutely yes. I would like to tell all the fans of Milan that I am very happy to come and play for Allianz Powervolley Milan next season! I can’t wait to meet the fans and go and win in the Italian championship!”
