For the second consecutive year Pallavolo Sangiorgio will play the promotion play-offs to aim for the historic leap to B1. The home success against Volley Davis 2c 3-0 and the simultaneous defeat of Cerea on the pitch of Anderlini Modena allowed coach Matteo Capra’s team to reach the finish line with two rounds to spare, and to play for everything to close the regular season in first position, thus guaranteeing two possibilities for climbing to the higher category.
«Last week we played a good match with excellent reception percentages which allowed us to play a lot with the central defenders – comments sporting director Massimo Gregori -. Our opponents appeared fierce and for a set and a half they really gave us a hard time, but in the distance we came out on top, managing to win the match. At the beginning of April we feared this difficult cycle of matches which had penalized us greatly in the first leg; in the ascending phase we managed to gain eleven points out of twelve and secure the playoffs, thanks to everyone’s work carried out with a rejuvenated team”.
If the appetite comes with eating, Pallavolo San Giorgio is halfway through lunch. “The objective now is to maintain first place until the end, there are six points up for grabs and it all depends on us.” In the next two days, the Piacenza team will have to overcome the obstacles of Piadena and BeOne to maintain the top of the rankings and think about the play-offs where, based on placement, they will face either Riccione if it finishes in first place or Pesaro if Capra’s team finishes in second.
