While racing on the roads of the Tour of the Alps, Geraint Thomas, the Welshman from the INEOS Grenadiers team, thinks about how he can take center stage in the 2024 Giro d’Italia, his stated goal for the first part of the season.
Interviewed by the YouTube channel of the media WielerFlits, the born in 1986 said: “I’m looking forward to a really tough race with the climbs and everything. It comes at just the right time – referring to the Tour of the Alps -, two weeks after the end of this there will be two weeks left until the start of the Giro. Just to refine things. That’s five good days of hard running in the mountains. It’s always a good thing.”
Then he added: ”Compared to last year, I think I’m slightly better. I had a little more continuity. In 2023 my Giro d’Italia did not end in the best way (lost by 14″ by Primoz Roglic, ed). With the start to the season I had, it still went well. Let’s see how this year goes.”
