On Facebook, content that is no longer available will be blocked, while on Instagram, impacted content will be silenced, unless users decide to replace the audio by selecting an available audio track in the catalog. Songs that do not fall within the SIAE repertoire will in fact continue to be available in the Meta music library.
Who created Instagram? When was it born and how was it invented?
Instagram is a photo and video sharing application created by Kevin Systrom, a Stanford graduate who previously worked at Google. Instagram was launched in October 2010 and quickly became popular due to its ability to allow users to easily share photos and videos edited with filters and organized through hashtags and geotagging. Instagram was acquired by Facebook in 2012 for a billion dollars. When Facebook acquired Instagram in 2012, it promised to keep it as independent as possible. Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram turned out to be one of the best tech acquisitions of all time, helping solidify Facebook’s dominance in social media for years to come. After the acquisition, Facebook began integrating the two platforms making it easier to share photos with each other and giving Instagram users the ability to find and connect with friends on Facebook. Additionally, Facebook quickly imprinted its influence on the popular photo-sharing app by adding new features that helped Instagram grow to over one billion users.
The most used features on Instagram and Facebook: stories and reels
There are many popular features on Instagram. Some of the more notable ones include Instagram Live Video, geo-tagged content, Instagram hashtags, Instagram Stories, and image and video editing. One of the most popular features is called “Instagram Stories” which allows users to post photos and videos to a separate feed within the app for other users to view for 24 hours after the original posting. Facebook also has many features but its main ones are the Newsfeed where the user sees content from his Facebook friends and from the pages he follows; Messenger for messaging; the Timeline where it displays user information and content posted or shared; the Wall, a space for user content; and Events where you can see events related to you or your Facebook friends such as birthdays or social gatherings. Facebook and Instagram reels are short videos shared on their respective platforms. They are similar to TikTok videos and offer most of the features found on sister platform Instagram. Content creators, influencers and marketers can post short videos up to 60 seconds with music, viral audio clips and effects. Reels on Facebook can be viewed in feed or on Facebook Watch.
