“It is essential for us to remain attached to Christ”

This is the thought of Don Antonello Giannotti of the NS parish of Lourdes on today’s Gospel: “Remain in me and I in you… whoever remains in me bears much fruit” so we read in the Gospel of the V Sunday of Easter. We must be continually united with Him if we want our life to be worth something. A well-known philosopher said: “The greatness of a man depends solely on the intensity of his relationship with God”. How two people who love each other find – explains Don Giannotti – the time to be together, to share the happy and sad moments of life, this is how a Christian’s relationship with God must be. Christian means “one who lives by Christ”. If a Christian does not experience this relationship, what testimony can he give? If a Christian leaves the life of faith, of prayer, of listening to the Word on the margins of his existence, what can he say and give to society? It is essential for us to remain attached to Christ, because without Him we cannot live. Without Him we become dry branches that produce – says Don Giannotti – wild grapes, that is, pride, envy, hatred, selfishness, greed, violence. We become bad yeast in the world. What is your spiritual condition today? Are you a “branch that produces good grapes or wild grapes”? In any case, don’t be discouraged! You need to have a lot of patience, a lot of good will and a lot of spirituality to be able to do authentic works of Christian life. Have faith – concludes Don Giannotti – and invoke the Holy Spirit so that you can become an authentic Christian. Happy Sunday Don Antonello”.
