The national team will be back on the field in September with the Nations League which will also assign places for the 2026 World Cup. The coach has a contract which reaches up to 2026 World Cup While the federal president will have to go through elections which must be called by March 2025. There can be three hypotheses:
a) Spalletti and Gravina resign immediately, therefore a new federal president and a new coach to start again but it’s July and the technical times wouldn’t help at all, considering that the Italy-France Nations Cup will be played on September 6th.
b) Spalletti and Gravina are not resigning, there will be a vote in March and if Gravina is not re-elected, the new federal president will find himself with a coach signed by his predecessor.
c) Spalletti resigns immediately and Gravina does not: in this case the president would have to choose a new coach who they would then leave as a legacy to his eventual successor after the March vote.
