SPECCHIOLLA – He illegally occupies a thousand meters of beach, placing deckchairs and umbrellas, but is discovered and reported. The person who ended up in trouble, at the hands of the Brindisi section of the Coast Guard – Operational Unit of Environmental Police of the Maritime Directorate of Bari, was the owner of a well-known beach resort in Specchiolla. The investigations carried out by the military have ascertained that the sole administrator of the beach, in possession of a regular state concession, had decided to expand his business by illegally occupying approximately one thousand square meters of beach with 76 umbrellas and 146 deckchairs.
The checks focused on the compliance of the urban planning tools in the possession of the concessionaire with the actual state of the places and are not yet concluded, but the stretch of beach has been cleared and returned to public use and the sole director of the company reported to the judicial authorities for various hypotheses of crime. The operation was conducted in collaboration with the technical staff of the municipality of Carovigno and is part of the checks carried out at a national level for Safe Sea and Lakes 2024. The aim is to guarantee high safety standards in the seaside tourism sector and to monitor the correct use of free beaches and state-owned maritime property, including the sea.
