An unforgettable dinner to celebrate the wonders of Calabria. A unique event will bring prestige to the city of Catanzaro, a gastronomic journey made of excellence and inclusion. Six starred chefs, four courses, a thousand seats at a single table along a 400-meter path: these are the magical ingredients that will make up “The extraordinary dinner” on September 13th.
The food and wine event is organized by the association “Città del Vento”, which has been involved in cultural promotion for years, overcoming the obstacles of social hardship through forms of aggregation and training.
The dinner that looks to charity
Solidarity and enhancement of the territory these are, in fact, the objectives of the dinner that will spread Mediterranean flavours along a long stretch of Corso Mazzini, the “good living room” of the city.
“Inspired by the success of “La Cena dei Mille”, a culinary experience created by the Parma Unesco City of Gastronomy Foundation in the Emilian city, we decided to create an event of this caliber for the first time in our region, adapting it to our geographical context, with a view to charity” declares Alessandro Astorinopresident of “Città del vento”.
His idea was immediately shared with enthusiasm by the six Calabrian chefs awarded with the prestigious Michelin star recognition: Luca Abbruzzino, Luigi Lepore, Nino Rossi, Caterina Ceraudo, Antonio Biafora and Riccardo Scullicoordinated by the chef Anthony Abbruzzino.
The mastery of their dishes, carefully prepared in a mobile kitchen together with approximately 200 units, including kitchen brigades – 10 brigade cooks for each chef – and dining room brigades – 80 waiters and 10 maitres – and 20 sommeliers, will make the flavor of an Extraordinary Calabria even more valuable and recognizable, as the promotional claim of the Calabria Region states.
An extra gear for the association “Gli Insuperabili”
In addition to promoting the Mediterranean beauty of the Calabrian land, it shines the noble goal of “The Extraordinary Dinner”: il The proceeds of the evening, excluding expenses, will be donated to “Gli Insuperabili”an amateur sports association which, together with a team of testimonials led by Giorgio Chiellinioperates at a national level promoting football as a tool for socialisation and integration for people with various types of disabilities.
In this way, overcoming obstacles and prejudices, it will be possible to ensure hours of training for a large number of boys and girls with cognitive, physical or sensorial disabilities, at the 17 Football Schools of “Gli Insuperabili” throughout the country, especially in Catanzaro.
Such a prestigious event could not have any other name than that which, in addition to involve institutions such as the Calabria Region, the Province and the Municipality of Catanzaro who will sponsor the event, includes partnerships with dozens of companies in the agri-food sector that will supply the raw materials.
The solidarity of the Catanzaro people
There is also a great mobilization among citizensprofessional orders and local businesses: each is making their skills available for the exclusive event which, through an identity menu, will celebrate Calabrian excellence, its many excellent DOP and IGP products, its magnificent DOC and IGT wines, enhanced to the maximum by the six stars of the Calabrian food and wine firmament.
“The city center will be transformed into an open-air gourmet restaurant, where all together, rediscovering the pleasure of conviviality, we will be able to follow the path of culinary goodness, but above all of the soul”says Astorino, recalling that tickets can be purchased on the Vivaticket/Lacenastraordinaria circuit.
