The 2024 Tour de France starts today, Saturday 29 June, from Florence. The first of 3 entirely Italian stages that will arrive in Rimini after 206 kilometers between the Apennines and 7 mountain grand prix. Part on Tour de France 2024 and it does so from Italy: a Grande Depart historic because in 111 years it is the first time that the Grande Boucle starts from our country. He’s been doing it since Firenze for the 1st stage today Saturday 29 June which will arrive in Rimini, in a first stage which is a direct homage to “ginettaccio” Bartali. The Tour de France starts in Florence, an edition that finally sees a king’s bed at the start with a highly respectable quartet for the final victory: Pogacar, Vaingegaard, Roglic and Evenepoel are the magnificent 4 who will be able to compete for the yellow jersey all the way to Nice. There will be a battle right from the start also because the first stage is undulating and leaves room for some sorties of the day even if there are no obvious bumps with the best who could be enticed to impress: 206 kilometers with 7 GPM.

Where to see the Tour de France on free-to-air TV and streaming on Rai
All the stages of the Tour de France 2024, the most important and decisive ones also in full, will be broadcast free-to-air for all three weeks of the race on Rai, which has signed an agreement with the organizers of the Grande Boucle until the 2025 edition. A TV will be the handover of the live broadcast between Rai2 and Rai Sport HD while for free streaming you can connect to RaiPlay. The 21 stages will also be broadcast on Eurosport, a channel present on the DAZN and Sky platforms, for a fee on TV and on Discovery+ for streaming with a subscription.

From Florence to Rimini there will be over 200 kilometers crossing the Apennines. A crossing that will offer 3,800 meters of positive altitude difference, between the rather undulating Valico Tre Faggi pass and some steep climbs for a total of 7 Grand Prix of the Mountain. The last of which in the heart of the Republic of San Marino, just before the finish line. The first Yellow Jersey could already be on the shoulders of one of the favorites for the general classification.
Remaining on the climbs of the day, some will be interesting: we reach the 5.8 kilometers at 7.6% of the Barbotto and the 4.6 kilometers at 7.7% of the San Leo, the two hardest asperities located in the second half of the fraction .
The favourites for the 1st stage Florence-Rimini
There is no real favorite over the others, being the first stage but one can think that the undulating route among the Italian Apennines will allow those who want to amaze fertile ground to do so. Be it some luxury domestique or those who do not dream of the yellow jersey of Nice but will try to take it immediately. Even the best will control themselves from the start: losing precious seconds now would mean risking immediately compromising the Tour
