Venice, 29 June 2024 – New details emerge on the last hours of Giulia Cecchettin and on his relationship with l’ex, Filippo Turetta: the one who would become her murderer. After the publication of the photos taken of the girl during the fateful outing to the ‘Nave de vero’ shopping centre in Marghera – which the 22-year-old kept on his mobile phone – the Rete 4 programme ‘Quarto grado’ also broadcast The messages shared between the two in the days and hours preceding the femicide.
Cecchettin was well aware that Turetta’s behavior could translate into something even more serious than stalking. “It’s a control mechanism: this too is sick. Pippo, you’re obsessedGentleman! You’re a psychopath!”, the girl wrote to her ex. And then: “You don’t realize, you’re constantly checking up on me. You control me! A couple of times you were right where I was without me saying anything like: I’m at a bus stop or I’m ‘on the run’, okay? Look what I’m doing”. And when pressed on her new acquaintance, Giulia had asked for privacy, not hiding the fear she felt: “I’m there things I want to keep to myselfWhy It scares me what you might do”.
As emerged from the messages exchanged with friends, the 22-year-old – although aware of the seriousness of her ex-boyfriend’s behavior – continued to meet him, fearful of the possibility that he could harm himself. Nonetheless, she had begun a path of departure from Turetta, responding less to his messages and limiting the time spent in his company. The trip to the ‘Nave de vero’ to buy the dress for the graduation, which would have been held the week following the crime, should have been one of the last.
The prosecution claims that the femicide was premeditatedgiven the presence of two knives in Turetta’s carof the black bags in which the body was supposedly hidden and of the adhesive tape used on Cecchettin’s mouth. The young man, however, claims that the blades were used to hurt himselfwhile she had bought the scotch tape in view of the decorations for her ex’s graduation party. But that evening of November 11, 2023, the 75 stab wounds were inflicted on Giulia. “She told me that I was too dependent, too clingy with her. He wanted to move onshe was creating new relationships, she was ‘feeling’ with another boy,” Turetta explained.
