Francesca Michielin, 29 years old, is on the crest of a wave. Twelve years ago she was a little girl with big eyes, shy and with a lot of insecurity in her heart. Today, however, she boasts a career full of successes and artistic awareness. The singer-songwriter talked about her relationship with social media, beauty and her beginnings
Francesca Michielin tells her story
«When I won X Factor I had to deal with the image of the pop artist for the first time and in that moment I said to myself “But why can’t I just be a voice, rather than a body that exposes itself?” – Michielin told Vanity Fair –.
At a certain point I was convinced that beauty was truly being able to go unnoticed, being so invisible so no one would notice me. I was ashamed. At 17 I made the huge mistake of doing a search on myself and on the Internet and I discovered that when I asked “Do you think Francesca Michielin is beautiful” all the negative comments “she is not beautiful” appeared; “She has slightly crooked teeth” and “She is not slim” ».
«I was petrified and felt a very strong feeling of unease. If I could do something for the me of that time I would hug myself and tell myself that “Beauty is a journey you take with yourself, where the judgment of others must be silenced and also the judgment we make about ourselves” is very difficult but we have to try” .
