Romulus, the director answers the most difficult question for a fan of the saga

After seeing Alien receive an R rating due to its violent content, the director Fede Alvarez he returned to speak publicly about the new film in the series, reflecting on the legacy of the previous chapters directed by Ridley Scott and James Cameron.

Interviewed by Empire Magazine, the director of Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe revealed that he was strongly inspired by past productions to shape his creation, which promises from now on to be original while respectful of its past:

Asking an Alien fan to choose between the two is a perverse question. So I thought, ‘How do I do both?‘” says Álvarez, who highlighted how Alien: Romolus manages to blending together the suspenseful elements of the first chapter with the more unbridled action of the sequel by Cameron. This strong quotationism, continues the director, will be present above all on a visual level:

There is a moment where the characters walk through familiar Nostromo-esque areas. Then they go through that building and to the other side: boom! You are in a corridor that resembles the Hadley Hope [di Aliens]“.

But what do we know about Alien: Romolus? Apparently, the film will follow the adventures of some space colonizers who, rummaging around a space station, will encounter one of the most fearsome threats in the universeThe film’s cast will include Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun) and Aileen Wu, respectively.
