Moments of terror for an elderly lady and her young granddaughter which were robbed last Thursday in broad daylight in the house by two men armed with a knife. The news leaked out only yesterday. The two then went their separate ways with little cash and some gold, without harming the victims who only got away with a big scare. According to an initial reconstruction, grandmother and granddaughter were spending a relaxing afternoon under the porch of the family villa, in Calvenzano, in the Bergamo plain, in the Gera d’Adda area, in via Casirate, a quiet residential area to the west of the town. Suddenly, around 7pm, they found themselves faced with two menwho – according to what has emerged so far, investigations are ongoing – had managed to enter the property, probably using one of the consolidated fraud techniques used by many criminals, such as, for example, checking the gas meter. The fact is that, once inside the garden of the villa, the two criminals took out a large knife and forced the grandmother and granddaughter, visibly terrified and in shockto enter the house.
While one of the robbers was keeping the victims under control by pointing the knife at them, the accomplice began to rummage through the house looking for cash and jewellery. In the end the loot was small, especially since the old woman, ordered to reveal where her gold was, said she no longer had any, also due to other thefts suffered in the past. Not happy, before fleeing, the two criminals made them hand over a ring that one of the two victims was wearing on her finger.
Then, probably disturbed by the arrival of a gardener who was supposed to take up service at the house, they ran away from the back of the house, through the garden, and disappeared, leaving the grandmother and granddaughter terrified. Fortunately, neither of them needed the intervention of 118, despite the great fright. The alarm was immediately raised with the Carabinieri, who sent several patrols to the scene. Having heard the two victims, the soldiers of the Treviglio Company are following various leads to try to trace those responsible for the robbery. The news of the bad adventure spread around the town and the neighborhood. “What happened is very serious,” explains a woman who lives not far from the villa targeted by the criminals. “We are no longer at peace even in our own home.” “Threatened with a knife? Are you joking?,” a pensioner from the village gets angry. “I really don’t know how I would react if I found myself in a similar situation.”
