Angelina Mango is fresh from the Eurovision Song Contest. «Poké Melodrama» was released on May 31st from LaTarma Records / Warner Music Italy. A poké, the Japanese dish that brings together many different ingredients, sounds and rhythms, from urban to electronic, passing through more pop melodies and pushing towards rap and drum and bass. «I always write and in recent months I transformed every strong emotion I felt into a song: this is how this poké came to life, full of all different things but which in the end is the only sincere way to describe what I am in this moment, what I feel I am and what I feel I have become”, said Mango in recent days during the presentation of the album, telling of “have changed so much and for the better this year: I discovered that I have a lot of inner strength and that I am sincere, because I don’t beat around the bush too much. The album is the story of what I experienced internally.”

His versatility it also emerges from the collaborations and voices with which he chose to present this first work of his: Marco Mengoni, Bresh, Dani Faiv and Villabanks. «I hope that my fragility also comes from listening to the album. I want the fact that I am a 23 year old girl to come out, and that I experience emotions in this way, even with maturity at times, but I’m simply a 23 year old girl who lives for music, without masks on», added the singer, who claims the freedom to express herself and her peers. “We talk about love, joy but also trauma and mental distress: I believe that the fact that we talk so much about negative things, about fragility, about problems is a consequence of this freedom of expression. We don’t hide.”

In a world often dominated by men, Angelina Mango is among the women in music who have made their way. «I grew up fortunately without the ability to notice how many women and how many men do something: I dream of a utopian future in which we will no longer look at a person’s gender.” With the’Eurovision Song Contest, where she came seventh, Angelina also made herself known abroad. «Unifying so many different cultures was a stimulating experience: she made me understand that there really are no boundaries in music, that it reaches everywhere. Eurovision was a great source of inspiration: I would be full of things to write right now.”

ESC will also take her to European stages, first at festivals in the summer and then in autumn with a club tour, which will follow the one in Italy. «It means that in Malmo I did a good job and that music speaks all languages. I can’t wait to find out where my music will travel again.” Isn’t there a risk of getting dizzy in front of all this? «If I was afraid of what was happening, I would have a terrible life from here on out. The only fear I have is going on stage one day or writing a song and no longer feeling emotion: if that were to happen I would probably stop immediately.”
