Street Fighterone of the most iconic fighting game-themed video game franchises, is preparing to return to the big screen to throw down the gauntlet to the recent reboot of Mortal Kombat. Just over a year after the announcement of the new film adaptation, we still know very little about the project. However a clue which emerged online in the last few hours promises to ignite the hopes of fans.

The first movie poster, complete with the official logo, was in fact shown to the public at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo. From this it is possible to make some speculation about the nature of the project. In fact, the logo refers directly to the latest videogame chapters of the franchise, which seems to suggest a quantum approach as faithful as possible to the original material.

The new adaptation of Street Fighter will be co-directed by the directing duo Danny and Michael Philippoualready at work on the successful horror film Talk to Me. However, no updates have yet emerged on the front of the casting nor on the characters that will appear in the film, although it is reasonable to assume that two fan favorites such as Ryu Hoshi and Ken Masters will make an appearance.

Previously Street Fighter had already arrived on the big screen with the controversial film of the same name directed by Steve De Souza in 1994 which had among its ranks Jean-Claude Van Damme in the role of Guile, Kylie Minogue in the role of Cammy White, Ming-na Wen in the role of Chun-li and the late Raul Julia in those of M. Bison. Despite the terrible reviews, the film still proved to be a success success at the global box office earning over $100 million in the wake of the video game’s popularity.

Produced by Legendary Entertainment and Capcom, the new film by Street Fighter at the moment it doesn’t have one yet release date official.
