Tuesday 2 July at 6.30pm in the FUA garden | Florence University of The Arts via Ricasoli, 21 Florence will host the presentation of Sandra Landi’s book with Elena Baragli, president of Artemisia Centro Antiviolenza and Vittoria Franco, philosopher. Part of the book’s royalties will be donated to Artemisia Centro Antiviolenza.
The book “Another story. Imperfect biographies” (ed. Le Lettere), collects the biographies of women from different eras, from prehistory to the present day. With precise and ironic prose, Landi gives voice to characters such as Lucy, the female australopithecus, and Tina Anselmi, the first woman to hold the office of Minister of Labor in Italy. The author includes lesser-known figures, such as Gemma Donati and Marozia, a femme terribile of the Middle Ages, and concludes with a singular “Eve’s trial”, inspired by Margherita Hack, which aims to rehabilitate the figure of the first woman.
Sandra Landi, writer and essayist, has collaborated with the main national publishing houses and has been translated into several languages. Her commitment to narrating life stories is also reflected in her previous work, “Ottavia e le altre” (Le Lettere, 2018), part of the project “Punte di spillo” against violence against women.
