The “Sea Without Borders” service was launched today, 1 July, as announced by the mayor Peppe Cassì. This service, born from the collaboration between the ASP and the eight coastal municipalities of the province, aims to guarantee the accessibility of the beaches for people with physical and mental disabilities.And. The social and health care service will be available every day until August 31st, with the presence of two operators from 10.30am to 12.30pm and from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Service

This year, the “Sea Without Borders” station in Ragusa will be located at the Rotonda of Marina di Ragusa, on the renovated Lungomare Doria. Mayor Cassì expressed gratitude towards all those who contributed to the creation of this service, underlining its civil and tourist value.

The councilor for the hamlets, Andrea Distefano, added that it will not be the only location accessible to people with disabilities along the coast. Thanks to a measure by the Sicilian Region and in collaboration with the Free Consortium, in May the Municipality obtained platforms and gazebos which, together with the equipment already available, made it possible to create twelve accesses to the sea. The installation of these facilities is almost complete and includes ten beach and two cliff accesses.

Beach access includes:

  • Lungomare Andrea Doria (side area of ​​the Da Carmelo restaurant)
  • Seafront Andrea Doria (Sailing Club)
  • Lungomare Andrea Doria (Rotunda, with two entrances)
  • Tower Square
  • Mediterranean seafront (Laola)
  • Braccetto Point (Salina Street)
  • Passo Marinaro
  • Club
  • Macchialonga

The cliff accesses are located in:

  • Lungomare Bisani (near the Holiday’s pizzeria)
  • Bisani seafront (Punta di Mola)

Four areas will be equipped with gazebos to offer shelter from the sun to the most vulnerable people, located at:

  • Rotonda (two gazebos)
  • Sailing Club
  • Braccetto Point
