Inserted in the guide of Italian Sustainable Municipalities, Legnano has moved from theory to practice with the Sustainability Festival

Legnano – Not just a formal recognition, but the concrete will to become an increasingly sustainable city with good practices, communication and events, such as the Sustainability Festival which was held on Saturday 28 June in the park of the library in via Cavour.

The initiative, sponsored by ASviS l‘Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development, was organized by Civic Library in collaboration with the group BiblioGiovani to raise awareness and mobilize citizens, young generations, businesses, associations and institutions on the issues of economic, social and environmental sustainability.

Many initiatives promoted during the day starting in the morning with the opening of Laboratory Terrarium edited by Lorenzo Rota and from BiblioGiovani, where the art of creating a self-sufficient ecosystem was learned and Oleolit, a laboratory for creating wellness oils. The courses couldn’t be missed SOS Piante to understand and prevent plant diseases by the agronomist dr. Pier Antonio Bragato.

The activities then continued in the afternoon with Theoretical and practical laboratory Biodiverse vase, curated by Wild Cesare in which intercrops, pollinators, ecosystems, the jewelry workshop creative with recycled materials curated by Rossella Cipressi and the Laboratory of design objects from the bike world and the participation of the Popular Cicloffficina and the association Recycling. Exchanges of clothes, plants, cuttings and books were held throughout the day.

Talk, music and activities dedicated to the little ones

During the day, moments of in-depth analysis also alternated with talks where topics that require serious reflection and structure were addressed.on the future scenario in which we want to live as light pollution, with the in-depth analysis of the light designer Andrea Carson, the climate crisis and thenon-violent battle discussed through the presentation of the book “Last Generation. Civil Disobedience and Climate Resistance”edited by Francesco D’Isa, Tlon editions.

The afternoon was enlivened by the “Musica a pedali” of the Coffee Shop and “Music and vinyl for the future” by Federico Croci, record producer at Rude Records. The day ended with the speech of Mayor Lorenzo Radice with John Gostolidirector of the Network of Sustainable Municipalities of which Legnano is part.

To change the planet it will take time, but certainly the view of the park in Via Cavour with people themselves in the shade of the trees, children playing, musicians playing in the park and Land Art works of art with the exhibition “Art, nature and sustainability” with Carlo Meda, Celeste Luna Sala, Giulia Rotini, Valentina Macrì, made the heartbeat more sustainable for a few hours.
