Il Vescovado – Monte Finestra, Salerno Fire Brigade saves hiker and his dog in difficulty

This morning around 9:25, the operations room of the Fire fighters of Salerno received an emergency call from a man hiking to the top of the Mount Finestrain the area of Cava de’ TirreniThe hiker, a 50-year-old local resident, said he had ventured too far and was unable to return to base because he and his dog were so exhausted.

The response of the Fire Brigade was immediate, sending the team of the city detachment and the staff of the Pontecagnano Helicopter Rescue Unit to the scene. Thanks to the use of a helicopter, rescuers managed to locate the man and his animal. Lowering themselves from the aircraft, the Red Helmets harnessed the hiker and the dog, loading them safely on board.

The rescue team then transported the two to the municipal stadium of Cava de’ Tirreni, where they were entrusted to the care of the 118 medical staff. Fortunately, both were found to be in reasonable health, despite the misadventure.

The rescue operation, efficient and timely, demonstrated once again the professionalism and dedication of the Fire Brigade, always ready to intervene in emergency situations to ensure the safety of citizens.
