It will be a different Sanremo 2025 with Carlo Conti as artistic director. The presenter of the next Festivals explains the choice to introduce major changes.
Sanremo 2025 it will be the first of the two Festivals that Rai has entrusted to Carlo Conti. The TV host from Florence will be returning to the stage of the Ariston theater eight years later from the three-year period 2015-2017 which saw him at the head of the singing festival. The event will bring changes compared to the formula proposed by Amadeus in the last five editions.
In fact, it will take place in Sanremo 2025 a double competition. One with the big names and the other with the young ones. The latter must have a minimum age of 16 and a maximum of 26, with the maximum limit lowered compared to the 29 established by Amadeus. The New Proposals category returns, already seen several other times in the past.
Another change is the obligation to submit texts in Italian. In addition to other languages, dialects are also banned. And this poses an insurmountable barrier to situations like the one seen at Sanremo 2024, with Amadeus who intervened on the regulation almost done just to have Geolier.
And the Neapolitan rapper then performed in the dialect of his city. This will no longer be possible, unless there are exceptions which, however, should not exist at Sanremo 2025. Another change will be that relating to the aforementioned return of the New Proposals.
Sanremo 2025, why so many changes
Those who manage to access the actual Festival from Sanremo Giovani will not bring an unreleased song but will re-present the same song from Sanremo Giovani. The decision to separate the participation of young artists from that of the big names must be understood as a desire to enhance the former.
In a few days the window will open in which to submit your application. Potential participants of the 2025 Sanremo Festival for New Proposals will be able to send to the artistic direction presided over by Carlo Conti their songs from July 10th to October 8th.
Conti, aided by a special musical commission composed of several experts, will have the task of selecting forty songs. The respective authors will then have to audition at the Rai studios in via Asiago, with a reduction to 24 participants. They will then participate in Sanremo Giovani in four evenings scheduled between November and December.
This will result in six participants, to which two more names selected by Area Sanremo will be added, who will compete in the final on December 18th. Of these, three of the six and one of the two will then be selected for Sanremo 2025, with a choice that will take place half by televoting and half by jury.
The semi-final and final of Sanremo Giovani will be broadcast on Rai 2. And in the meantime, a past participant of Sanremo, Amici and several other TV programs has announced to have put aside her singing career at least for the moment to open a hairdressing salon in Rome.
