VENICE | AUTONOMY OF VENETO: ZAIA WRITES TO MELONI TO OPEN THE NEGOTIATION – ANTENNA TRE

01/07/2024 VENICE – After the publication in the Official Journal of the law on autonomy, the Veneto Region has officially asked the Government to reopen negotiations for the implementation of the reform. The request was signed today in Venice by President Zaia. || Exactly with the same pen used seven years ago to call the consultative referendum on autonomy, the President of the Veneto Region Zaia signed at Palazzo Balbi the letter addressed to the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and to the Minister for Regional Affairs and Autonomies Roberto Calderoli which requests the reopening of the discussion table with the Government for the implementation of the reform. The reopening of negotiations with the Government follows immediately after the publication in the Official Journal of the law on autonomy, which will be operational from 13 July. It starts with the nine subjects in which the LEP, the essential levels of performance, are not required: Labor policies, Education, Health, Protection of the environment and the ecosystem. But Veneto is ready to negotiate for the other 14. Then there is another request for autonomy that is opening up, one that recognizes the special status of Venice, which must no longer be seen as a playground for tourists. – Interviewed LUCA ZAIA (PRESIDENT OF THE VENETO REGION) (Report by Filippo Fois)
