PSN Down, What’s Happening? July Starts With Connection Problems on PS4 and PS5

Update July 1st, 6:20 PM – Sony’s official PlayStation Network Status of Service portal confirms the end of the PSN problems: PS4 and PlayStation 5 users can therefore once again access the services associated with their PSN account. The original news follows.

The month of July is not starting off in the best way for PlayStation users: the PS4 and PlayStation 5 community is in fact reporting a whole series of problems related to connecting to online services on PSN, both on the current and previous generation of Sony platforms.

This afternoon, Monday 1st Julymany PlayStation players are experiencing problems accessing all the services associated with the PlayStation Network, a criticality that is also confirmed by the curators of the official Sony website.

Through the PSN Status portal, the Japanese technology giant certifies the presence of problems related to access to PlayStation Network for account management, use of PlayStation Video content, navigation of the PlayStation Store and, above all, the ability to access PS4 and PlayStation 5 video games online.

At the time of writing (5:24 p.m. on Monday, July 1), access to multiplayer servers and online features listed on the PlayStation Network Service Status portal is extremely difficult, with the exception of features related to the PlayStation Direct service in North America. For those who follow us, we remind you that PSN also went down on March 21, with connection issues resolved by Sony in the space of a few dozen minutes.
