ALVIGNANO (CE): MISTREATED DOGS CLOSED IN A SMALL CAGE
SAVED BY THE PIETRAMELARA FOREST CARABINIERS
The soldiers of the Carabinieri Forestry Unit of Pietramelara (CE), following a request
intervention received from the ASL Veterinaria of Caiazzo – Equine and Stray Animals Service, yes
they were taken to Alvignano (CE), to the home of a private citizen, where it was found
Local Police personnel were also present.
The inspection of the area pertaining to the house allowed the discovery of two black dogs
tawny, with a black mask of the mongrel type, found closed in a small box marked on the net
metal, with sheet metal roof, open on all sides, in a poor state of nutrition and
terrible hygienic and sanitary conditions.
In the opinion of the ASL veterinary doctors, the two dogs were in a condition of
mistreatment as they are detained in conditions incompatible with their nature and production
of serious suffering:
the dogs were lying in a limited space that was not sufficient for the number and size of the dogs
present;
food and water were not present;
poor nutritional status given the evident weight loss of the animals;
presence of excrement not removed for some time;
lack of lateral shelter from wind and weather;
cohabitation in the same space of both males and females;
the animals and the place where they were kept were full of fleas.
In order to immediately stop the dogs’ state of discomfort and suffering
above-mentioned, the aforementioned military personnel proceeded with the seizure and at the same time
entrusted to the custody of an authorised facility while they have reported the owner of the
dogs for the crime of animal cruelty.
