How the sea is, but also the beaches, the piers, the purification plants is shown by a “photograph” taken in the last few hours by the Port Authority of Gaeta that has literally combed the southern coast finding a long list of environmental and administrative violations. The operation that is part of the national control “Nettuno” has seen the commitment of the National Environmental Control Center and the Marine Environmental Control Center of Civitavecchia, coordinated by the Port Authority of Gaeta together with the dependent territorial Commands of the Province of Latina and Frosinone including the Offices of the Pontine Islands.
The objective was to control the system of protection and safety of bathers but also compliance with the rules of the maritime state property concessions. In fact, 158 inspections were carried out at purifiers, shipyards and production activities connected to surface waterways or coastal marine environments. Checks, also carried out with the help of personnel belonging to the Arpa Lazio Section of Latina and with the collaboration of the technicians of the Provincial Administration of Latina, which led the coastguards to hypothesize 9 illicit conduct and 3 criminal seizures whose facts were subjected to scrutiny by the competent Judicial Authorities of Latina and Cassino, in relation to the territory where the offenses were committed. Furthermore, companies and individuals were fined for a total of 15 administrative offenses with overall fines of 36,000 euros in addition to subsequent measures that will be adopted in this regard by the competent regional and municipal bodies.
