Water network and sewers under pressure. Emergencies between hills and Apennines

Half of the Reggio Emilia aqueduct and sewerage network has suffered severe stress due to the water bombs at the beginning of the week. Dozens of construction sites, large and small, from the city to the mountains opened by Iren Acqua Reggio (formerly Ireti). From a first list, the emergency interventions – addressed and resolved by Arca through the company during the wave of bad weather in recent days – are located in the band between the hills and the Apennines: in Carpineti (via Molino Baroni and via Dorgola); in Castelnovo Monti (via Gatta and via Campolungo); in Vetto (via Castellina and the Cà Giamarra cockpit); between Sedrio and Pecorile, in Vezzano… We realize the need for drinking water when it isn’t there, and the supply didn’t fail for long thanks to the work of dozens of people – including workers and technicians – who went out of their way to ensure service to the mountain population.

The former Ireti also manages 3,550 km of sewerage network, of which 600 km of black network and approximately 820 km of white network: for example, the one that exploded in Cerezzola di Canossa, with the manholes blown up by the pressure of the waters that flowed downhill from the Trinità area via a collector that passes under the hamlet along the Enza valley floor.

In addition to the network of pipes and collectors, almost a thousand overflows and a dozen first rain basins are also managed. The reconnaissance of the situation is still ongoing.
