The drought emergency and problems with disruptions or thefts in water supply systems have forced the Municipality of Marsala to adopt more services. In particular, a new monitoring of the water table level is planned with managers who are responsible for adopting the necessary measures where a drop in the level below the physiological threshold is found. A few days ago the supply had decreased by 50% but this was due to thieves in action in the electrical panels and copper cables of the Sinubio well system. But now around the corner there is a new concern for the water supply which, with the arrival of summer, is certainly not good news for citizens and tourists and therefore also for those who manage b & b, holiday homes and restaurants. In collaboration with the Civil Engineering Department and the ASP, the Municipality is evaluating the possibility of equipping the Water Service with denitrification systems, to be installed if necessary in temporarily closed wells, such as in the Stadio area and in the Pastorella e district private wells are being mapped to understand if it is possible to use them in the event of a worsening of the water situation in the city.

All this, says the mayor Massimo Grillo, always remembering the handbook to avoid waste, therefore in order to use water for strictly hygienic purposes or for cooking. The projects to increase the supply are ongoing, such as the new agreement with Siciliacque for the supply of further cubic meters of drinking water from the Rubino dam and an investment of around 90 million euros for the connection of our city’s water system to aqueducts of Montescuro Ovest and Garcia. But the timing is not known at the moment.
