PesaroJune 28, 2024 – Stephen Barone struck by melanoma at the age of 23, he underwent numerous treatments, some of which today, experts explain, thanks to research and prevention, are able to give greater hope of recovery.
The short film is dedicated to him The grain. Crossroads of a moleconceived and shot by Frida Bruno who, by chance, found herself reading his memoirs at the beginning of this personal odyssey, dedicated to his namesake, Frida, an imaginary muse, who inspired his last months of life. Fate wanted to somehow make them meet, casually putting the director and screenwriter in contact with Stefano’s father, a loving figure with his gaze turned towards the future, intent on communicating the importance of prevention and evolving scientific research in the field of skin cancer.
«With this work – says Beppe Barone – we hope to be able to pass on a great message to young people, just as Stefano himself hoped on his journey to the crossroads of a mole”.
The story alternates fictional parts with testimonies from doctors, scientists and family members, always keeping facts, scientific information and the emotional part in a good balance. A narrative, despite its documentary character, in which one immerses oneself and excites oneself, following the metaphor of a grain of sandas small as it is powerful in ruining your life if not removed in time.
After the Milanese previews at the Cinema Arlecchino and at the Lilt Festival, and the Roman one at the Cinema Barberini, the film arrives in Pesaro where on Monday 1 July, at 9.15 pm it will be screened at the Cinema Astra before a debate coordinated by the journalist Ilaria Fratoni which will see participation, as well as Frida Bruno, Beppe Barone e Peter Nalessothe actor who plays the real protagonist of the story, also the prof. Ferdinando Cananziexpert in surgery of Sarcomas, Melanomas and Rare Tumors at the IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Milan, Dr. Rita ChiariHead of Oncology at AST Pesaro-Urbino, Dr. Alberto PatritiHead of General and Oncological Surgery AST Pesaro-Urbino, Dr Shohreh Zavareh ArdestaniPrimary Dermatology AST Pesaro – Urbino and Luke PieriPresident of ASSOFARM and ASPES.
The event, which is part of Pesaro Capitale della Cultura, is free to enter until all seats are taken.
