With a total of 236,590 euros in funding, accessibility and enjoyment of the Saxophone Museum in Fiumicino will be improved.

The Municipality of Fiumicino has approved the budget change necessary for the allocation of funds for extraordinary maintenance workssystem adaptation, improved accessibility for people with disabilities and use of the museum complex, which houses the largest collection of these instruments in the world, from the tiny soprillo of only 32 centimetres to the mammoth J’Elle Stainer sub-double bass.

“The Administration of Fiumicino successfully participated in the regional tender for the valorisation of the Cultural Places of Lazio and we are proud to be able to launch this project on which we have worked throughout the first year of our mandate. An initiative that will not only improve the accessibility and use of the Museum, but will also contribute to the enhancement of our cultural heritage”, declares the vice mayor Giovanna Onorati – An important step forward for our community which will make the museum more welcoming, with new exhibition spaces, and safe for all visitors with video surveillance, anti-intrusion and fire prevention systems”.

The resolution, first presented to the Commission, was evaluated during the city council last June 28. The Lazio Region approved the ranking of admitted projects including the Saxophone Museum project with a contribution of 189,272 euros, equal to 80% of the total cost. The remaining 20%, equal to 47,318 euros, will be covered by municipal funds.
