In Pescara there is citizen mourning, but in the city there are concerts and events

PESCARA, 28 JUN – While Pescara is still in shock over the brutal murder of 16-year-old Christopher Thomas Luciani and while many parents of very young people are wondering whether the city is safe or not, the Adriatic capital is preparing to experience a new summer weekend, with evenings in beaches and events, just five days after the crime. Among the main initiatives is the Pescara stage of the Rds Summer Festival, which kicks off tonight. The event, free but with mandatory registration, will attract thousands of young people to the city. Many are already in line, despite the entrances opening at 7pm. During the first evening, Alex Wyse, Benji & Fede, Gazzelle, Leon Faun, Ludwig and Mediterraneo will perform. The initiative takes place at the Stadio del Mare, right in the centre, on the stretch of beach in front of the ‘Nave di Cascella’, a fountain which now appears surrounded by barriers. The road system has been revolutionized for the occasion, with transit and parking bans throughout the entire area. Furthermore, there are many events scheduled for Friday evening in the city’s beach establishments. Tomorrow, in addition to the Italy match as part of Euro2024 and the events on the seafront, there will be the second evening of the Rds Summer Festival. In Pescara, today, there will be city mourning from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, at the same time as the funeral of the young Christopher Thomas, which will be celebrated at 5pm in Rosciano, the town 15km from the capital where the boy grew up.
