He steals from an apartment but is stopped on board a regional train

Genoa Savona

– On Wednesday morning, the Genoa Sampierdarena railway police, during a check on board the regional train on the Genoa – Savona route, stopped a man with several bags.

His nervousness during the identification process prompted the police to further investigate the contents of the suitcases, which contained several gold jewels, watches, and ancient coins.

Furthermore, he was in possession of objects suitable for burglary and since the traveler was unable to provide a valid reason for possessing what was found, the police decided to accompany him to the office for further checks.

The subsequent investigations carried out together with colleagues from the Judicial Squad of the Liguria Polfer Compartment and the Genoa Prà Carabinieri Station Command, made it possible to establish that the valuable objects that the man possessed, specifically 5 bracelets, 10 earrings, 10 rings, 7 necklaces, 8 cufflinks, 11 pendants, 12 brooches, several ancient coins and a movie camera were all of illicit origin.

All valuables that had been stolen shortly before from a private home in the Genova Prà district and the owner, absent at the time of the theft, had already filed a complaint with the local police.

The man, a 33-year-old Tunisian, not residing in the Municipality of Genoa, was therefore arrested and all the objects seized.

Yesterday the foreigner was directly tried before the Court of Genoa and the Judge validated the arrest by imposing a residence ban on the man in the Municipality of Genoa.

Without prejudice to any presumption of innocence.
