A 3-year-old boy and his mother were hit by an SUV while crossing the street on their bikes in Brescia on the afternoon of June 27. The two are still hospitalized, while the driver will be investigated for very serious injuries.

The conditions of the hospital are still serious 3 year old child who yesterday afternoon, Thursday 27 June, was hit by an SUV in Brescia. The little boy was sitting on the bicycle seat led by his mother when a car hit them making them fall on the asphalt. The paramedics who arrived on the scene transported the child in red code to the Pediatrics department of the Civil Hospital where he is still hospitalized in reserved prognosis for head trauma. The mother, however, was transported to the emergency room with a yellow code.
The driver would not have noticed the bicycle
The accident occurred around 5.30pm on June 27 at the beginning of Viale della Bornata in Brescia. According to what was reconstructed by the local police officers who intervened to investigate the case, the SUV hit the 39-year-old and her son while they were crossing the road on the pedestrian crossing. Shortly before, some witnesses said, the driver he had let another cyclist pass, probably companion and father of the two injured. As he passed, he allegedly had an argument with the driver of the SUV.
Perhaps distracted from that episode, the driver would have suddenly started off again, hitting the bike on which the 39-year-old and her son were travelling. Even though at a low speed, the impact was significant and caused the two fall onto the asphalt, while the bicycle remained stuck under the car. The 3-year-old child would have fared the worst, reporting a head trauma.

The 112 operations center sent a medical vehicle and ambulances from the White Cross and Bresciasoccorso to the scene. The medics assessed the conditions of the two wounded and decided to transport them to the Civil Hospital of Brescia. The little boy was taken away in red code and admitted to Pediatrics. In the evening the doctors announced that his conditions are serious, but stable. The prognosis remains reserved, but the possibility of complications of the clinical picture should be ruled out.
The 39-year-old, however, is less serious. The woman was transported in code yellow and she should have only suffered a few bruises. Meanwhile, the investigations continue: in the next few hours the images recorded by the surveillance cameras in the area will be analyzed and in all likelihood the driver of the SUV he will be investigated for very serious injuries.
