Sassari: Mistaken Twice for a Robber, She Is Acquitted

The woman twice mistaken for a robber without being one. It is the strange case of Biliana Jankovic who, yesterday in court in Sassari, received the second acquittal “for not having committed the crime”.

The offending episode occurred in Ittiri in 2019 when two women broke into a house and stole various pieces of jewellery, some of them gold. Surprised as they climbed over the gate by a neighbor, the couple fled, threatening and attempting to hit the lady. Who was certain that she had recognized Jankovic, so much so that she accused her of it to the police but, as prosecutor Maria Paola Asara recalled yesterday in discussion, the 31-year-old was hospitalized on that day and was therefore innocent. On the other hand, as underlined by the defense lawyer Antonella Saba, Biliana Jankovic had been accused of another robbery which took place in the Campidano with the same methods, and she too was acquitted in that case because on that day she was in the peninsula.

Acquittal also for the minor, in the dedicated court, considered the accomplice of the Ittirese affair and defended by the lawyer Anna Maria Santoru. The panel was presided over by judge Monia Adami, with Valentina Nuvoli and Paolo Bulla as assistants.
