The Geo Barents, a search and rescue vessel for Doctors Without Borders, rescued two different boats in distress this morning (June 27). The two fiberglass boats were carrying 13 and 21 people, including some minors, who had set out from Libya.
The Italian authorities have assigned Ancona as the port of disembarkation for the 34 rescued migrants: the ship should arrive between Monday and Tuesday next week, informs Doctors Without Borders.
