CAMPOBASSO – Yesterday, June 26, the Guardia di Finanza of Molise celebrated the 250th Anniversary of the foundation of the Corps. The Guardia di Finanza is, currently, a Police Corps capable of interpreting the signs of change, of renewing itself and evolving towards tomorrow, without forgetting the origins, traditions and values ​​that have inspired its operations during its 250 years of history and represents an irreplaceable garrison of economic and financial security for the country, to safeguard the legal economy and the correct functioning of the markets. “In tradition the future” is the motto, chosen directly by the Financiers of all levels.

The celebration of the special anniversary began with the laying, in the morning, by the Regional Commander of Molise, Brigadier General Luca Cervi, accompanied by the Provincial Commander of Campobasso, Col. Francalberto Di Rubbo, of a laurel wreath at the Monument to the Fallen of all wars in Piazza della Vittoria in Campobasso, by the Provincial Commander of Isernia, Col. Franco Tuosto, at the Monument to the Fallen in the Remembrance Park of the capital Pentro, and by the Commander of the Air and Naval Operations Department of Termoli, Lt. Col. Ernesto Castellaneta, at the Monument to the Fallen of the Sea of ​​the Adriatic city. A similar ceremony was held on June 21 at the headquarters of the Regional Command of Molise in Campobasso, to remember the sacrifice of MOVM Financier Antonio Zara after whom the local barracks is named.

Furthermore, again with the aim of strengthening the bond of the Corps with the Molise territory, further commemorations were held in Larino and, as a sign of gratitude towards the soldiers of the Corps fallen and decorated in war or in service originating from the pentra province, on the 25th June, in Vastogirardi, in memory of the Guard Nicola Marracino who perished in the summer of 1941 in a heroic war action, as well as yesterday, in Sesto Campano, to remember the figure of the Guard Giuseppe Iaconelli, originally from the small town, who died in July 1915 due to wounds sustained in battle.

The celebrations continued with a ceremony organized yesterday evening in the splendid setting of Piazza della Vittoria in Campobasso, in the presence of the highest civil, military and religious authorities of the Region, a quota of military personnel in service and on leave, representatives of the professional associations of a trade union nature among the military personnel of the Guardia di Finanza, as well as, as evidence of the strong union with the local institutions, the Gonfalons of the Molise Region, the Provinces of Campobasso and Isernia and the Municipalities that host or have hosted Departments of the Corps, in addition to the Banners of the Veterans and Armed Forces Associations. Also participating were all the Financiers free from service who, together with their families, wanted to celebrate two and a half centuries of the Guardia di Finanza.

In this context, following the flag raising ceremony, the greeting message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the “Special Order of the Day” from the Commander General of the Guardia di Finanza, Army Corps General Andrea, were read out. De Gennaro. This was followed by the speech by General Cervi in ​​which the highest regional authority of the Corps, in addition to thanking the Fiamme Gialle of Molise for their daily commitment to protecting the legality and economic-financial interests of the State, wanted to address them the exhortation to persevere with tenacity in the supervisory action in the various sectors of the institutional mission and the invitation to continue to be and feel like protagonists of the history of this Institution which has always been at the service of the country and the community.

At the end of the event, the delivery of moral rewards to the soldiers who distinguished themselves most in carrying out the multiple service activities. Particularly significant was the moment of awarding praise to the canine units in service in Molise for their daily commitment to combating drug trafficking, culminating with the awarding of the drug-sniffing dog “Iban”, a five and a half year old German shepherd. .
