The death of a kickboxer struck down by illness during training, the vain rush to the hospital, the investigation launched by the prosecutor’s office of Pavia – the province where the tragedy occurred on May 21 – and the arrival in Tuscany with the complaint of a person in the province of Massa-Carrara and the search that led to the discovery of an anabolic steroid trafficking.

Yes, because this is the suspicion of those investigating: that the sudden death of the 52-year-old athlete is linked to the intake of substances.

The Carabinieri went so far as to report a 34-year-old from the Milan area and a 35-year-old from the province of Massa-Carrara on charges of having sold anabolics and narcotic drugs to some athletes.

Then yesterday, the search carried out by the Carabinieri of Pavia together with the military of Massa Carrara and the NAS of Cremona, following which approximately 3,600 tablets, 84 vials of possible doping substances, 4 vials of narcotic drugs and 780 euros in cash were seized.

According to the investigative reconstruction, the two would have procured the substances, partly close to expiration, and then illegally sold them in gyms. Now it will be up to ongoing investigations to reveal whether or not there is actually a correlation between the kickboxer’s death and the intake of banned substances.
