Report from the victim, blocked by the Taurianova police
They attack a competitor to force him not to mount his carousel on the occasion of the feast of Sant’Antonio in Taurianova.
With this accusation, the Carabinieri arrested and placed under house arrest two carnies originating from the Serre Vibo area, under investigation for extortion, injuries and damage to the competing carnie.
According to the accusation, the two first threatened their rival – “you must not ride here” – then they attacked him.
The victim, rescued by some passers-by and taken to the Polistena hospital, however found the strength to tell all the details to the carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Reggio Calabria.
The statements thus made it possible to reconstruct the entire story and identify the attackers, two brothers aged 31 and 21, against whom the investigating judge of Palmi issued a precautionary measure.
The images of the municipal video surveillance cameras, which immortalized the punitive raid, which took place on 6 June in the central Piazza Fava of Taurianova, corroborated the thesis of the investigators, coordinated by the Palmi prosecutor Emanuele Crescenti and the prosecutor Davide Lucisano. The arrested people, already known to the police, it is written in the precautionary measure, had already attempted to oust the competitor from the previous feast of Sant’Antonio.
In 2023, in fact, the victim was approached by the two, animated by the desire to be the only ones to set up rides in the area intended for street vendors.
