During a road traffic checkpoint, the carabinieri ordered a 20-year-old from Messina with a criminal record to stop who, having no intention of stopping and being checked, pressed the accelerator and began an escape through the streets of the northern suburbs. of Messina, thus starting a chase, fortunately without consequences, which ended with the capture of the young man, arrested on charges of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, resisting a public official and receiving stolen goods.
The stolen weapon
This is what happened in the late evening of 23 June last, when the carabinieri of the Messina Faro Superiore station, after a short chase, blocked the fugitive and recovered the weapon that he had thrown out of the window during the chase, ascertaining that it was of a 7.65 caliber pistol with its magazine and three rounds inserted. The young man, subjected to a search, was found in possession of a further 8 bullets of the same caliber as the weapon, hidden in his trouser pocket.
Taken to the barracks under arrest, the 20-year-old from Messina is now under house arrest at his home, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. The gun with its ammunition was seized and sent to the Carabinieri of the RIS of Messina for the relevant ballistic examination, aimed at verifying its possible use, in particular whether it was used to commit crimes. From the checks carried out immediately, the carabinieri managed to trace the origin of the weapon, which appears to have been stolen in 2016 from a house in Enna.
5 with drugs in the car
The escape, in a car, of five young people, between 20 and 25, who did not stop at the State Police checkpoint, set up as part of the ordinary night patrolling services, in the streets and squares of the city. Specifically, the UPGSP police officers working at a checkpoint in the San Cristoforo neighborhood noticed a suspicious car. The police ordered the driver to stop, but the car with the five boys, instead of stopping at a halt, suddenly accelerated and then fled. Thanks to the help of another police car, the race of the five young people was immediately blocked in via Barcellona.
All occupants were accompanied to the police offices for investigations. Once identified, it emerged that one of the young people already had a criminal record. The driver of the car was reported for resisting a public official, sanctioned for various violations of the Highway Code and was reported as a drug user since, during the check carried out inside the vehicle, some marijuana of 1.3 grams.
