“We were afraid, we risked worse consequences.” An eyewitness recounts a rather eventful nighttime situation at the Bufalini hospital in Cesena. ‘Unwanted’ entries are reported in the evening before the doors close and “a coming and going of people who are not at all reassuring”.

The key episode on Tuesday evening, says the witness who was in the hospital: “I was at the mountain side exit of the hospital to have a coffee, a 23-year-old boy of Moroccan origin entered, he started to spread panic, a person told me he said there was a deranged person who was making a big mess. In fact I could see that the boy started going around the departments, took possession of the bottles of alcohol that were on the trolleys and started throwing them at himself, but also to throw it on the other people he met, including doctors”. “I’ll set everything on fire”, she shouted, causing panic even considering that he had a lighter in his hand.

The young man had been hanging out near the hospital since last Thursday, already in the previous days he had been seen sleeping on the bench outside the Bufalini, and on Friday he was seen throwing stretchers. “I warned the security guards several times – explains the witness to the episode – but they seemed powerless in the face of this coming and going of unsavory individuals. Even if these people are accompanied out, they return after a short time. It seems to me that there It’s a somewhat lax control system, what would have happened if this young man had grabbed a scalpel or set something on fire?”.

The boy, already on Tuesday afternoon at the entrance to the Bufalini, had started to go into a rage, then in the evening the most serious episode. “I called the Carabinieri who put him in a wheelchair and accompanied him to the Psychiatry department where he should still be hospitalized. It’s sad to see such a young boy who has problems, I still have his gaze before my eyes, but it’s an unpredictable and dangerous subject, especially in a hospital where a person would like to feel safe. The worry is that such episodes could happen again.”
