In Amsterdam 250 people gathered in a church to read, write, paint and meet: sucked into the virtual world, they felt the need to stop and question themselves on that feeling of no longer having control and on the need to re-establish a balance between the real world and the virtual one.

Thus, in the United States, reading parties or book parties were born, parties that involve dozens of people and are based on a passion for reading. Abroad they are very widespread and are hosted in wonderful places.

Carpi will also experiment with this formula thanks to the resourcefulness of Gisella Piccagliani (Bartle_book) e Annalisa Grulli who promoted “Matta Book Pride”, symposium dedicated to readings, sharing and disconnecting, Wednesday 10 July at the club Mattatoyo (via Rodolfo Pio, 4).

“An evening to read, meet and share – they explain – starting from 7pm, away from the frenzy. Books will become the means to create deeper conversations, to exchange impressions and suggestions, to debate, to create new friendships. Everyone can bring their own book or magazine from home, but there will also be some books available during the event”.

The ingredients of Matta Book Pride are extremely simple: a good book and the background of a soundtrack for an evening spent sipping a glass with the volume in your hands in a suggestive environment. The shots of the exhibition will be exhibited at the Mattatoyo Reading America, books and photos from overseas: the photographs restore the pages of the great American novels through the personal interpretation of Gisella Piccagliani. Entry is permitted with an Arci card.

“We would not like it to remain an isolated event, we would like to inaugurate a series of meetings in Carpi and therefore we will try to organize other moments like this, perhaps on the occasion of the Festa del Racconto” they conclude.
