Around 17 thousand units (from 543,817 to 526,831): this is the balance of the number of minors in Tuscanyfrom 2021 to 2023 according to the data released today by the Guarantor for Childhood and Adolescence of the Tuscany Region, contained in the report presented today to the Regional Council.
It is striking that approximately 10% of minors living in Tuscany find themselves in a situation of relative poverty, not only material, but which also concerns the lack of social protection, fewer opportunities for education and sport.
The president of the institutional affairs commission, Giacomo Bugliani (Pd), recalled how particular commitment was made in the process that led to the approval of the Code of Ethics on the right of minors to health and health services, drawn up by the Guarantor for Childhood and Adolescence and signed by all the general managements of the university hospitals of the Tuscany Region.
Bugliani underlined how the training of guardians for unaccompanied foreign minors has been followed up: 28 new voluntary guardians have been registered in the appropriate court list. The chamber approved by majority a resolution of appreciation for the work of the Guarantor, presented on the proposal of the institutional affairs commission and illustrated in the chamber by Bugliani.
The League abstained: councilor Giovanni Galli reported the problem of the lack of voluntary guardians in Tuscany, “only 38 for 892 unaccompanied foreign children”, while the vice-president of the Regional Council Marco Casucci said that “if we really believe in this figure” of the Guarantor “it is necessary to provide it with indispensable resources for its role”.
