Among the general satisfaction of the Umbrian entrepreneurs present at the fair, for the business and trade opportunities had in these three days of meetings and initiatives, the participation of the Region and Sviluppumbria in the Summer Fancy Food in New York ended on Tuesday 25 June. The regional stand, located inside the Italian pavilion, has in fact received great appreciation among sector operators, attracted by the numerous events and cooking shows organized by the regional body as part of the great American exhibition. In addition to the cooking demonstrations carried out several times a day at the fair by the Umbrian chef Andrea Paolo Tiberi and his team, with tastings in which all visitors to the Summer Fancy Food were able to take part, particular attention was given to the performance of the well-known chef influencer Cooker Girl who tried her hand at preparing a menu based on typical Umbrian products. “I am very happy and honored – commented Cooker Girl herself on the sidelines of the show – to have had the opportunity to talk about the wonderful Umbrian cuisine here in New York. I just want to mention three of your excellent products that I used on this occasion in my dishes and which speak for themselves: the oil, the truffle and the wine”. An exhibition, that of the influencer, which also bounced on her social channels @cooker.girl and @giallolovesitaly, obtaining thousands of views in a few hours. “Our stand – underlined the regional councilor for economic development, Michele Fioroni, present in the front row at the fair every day and an active protagonist of all the initiatives – was, by all accounts, one of the liveliest of the fair with our companies that have established important relationships with distributors in the food and beverage sector. Every day we offered cooking shows and tastings of our products and dishes, attracting and brightening the day of many of the sector specialists who visit the fair”.

A particularly significant moment, then, is the one organized by the Umbria Region and Sviluppumbria outside the exhibition spaces of the Javits Center: in the heart of the Little Italy district, in the historic Di Palo’s venue, the ten Umbrian companies selected as part of the regional tender to participate in the Summer Fancy Food, had a further business opportunity thanks to an exclusive evening of tastings and deals organized in collaboration with the American agency Colangelo & Partners. The Umbrian entrepreneurs met local personalities and once again showcased their products to additional American buyers and distributors in the food sector, thus starting new contacts and working relationships. “Umbrian cuisine – declared Roberta Marini De Plano, delegate of the Italian Cuisine Academy in New York – is very special for us. I’m happy that Umbria is here at Summer Fancy Food because it’s extremely important: the US is buying more and more Italian products so it’s essential to make yourself known here. I am sure that America will appreciate you very much and I will also personally commit to promoting Umbria in my next dinners”. “Italian cuisine in the USA – also recalled Lou Di Palo, owner of the New York business Di Palo – is the very symbol of American cuisine. As we know very well, the USA does not have its own cuisine, but being the center of many cultures they have adopted all the typical cuisines of their population, so in the USA Italian cuisine is American cuisine”. But the internationalization opportunities promoted by the Umbria Region for these ten companies in the food sector do not stop with the closing of the fair. In the coming months, the promotion of Umbria in foreign markets will continue as part of regional and European measures and instruments, also with the support of the Enterprise Europe Network of which Sviluppumbria is a partner. Among the first initiatives planned is an incoming mission to Umbria to deepen the contacts made in recent days in the USA.
