D’Angelo best coach in Abruzzo: “Long run-up at Spezia, after the transfer market we will outline the ideas”

Enjoying the last days of vacation Luke D’Angelo, who in his Pescara takes advantage of the last moments of relaxation before returning to La Spezia, where he is expected to start his second season on the bench of the white team, after the miracle-salvation of the one that ended just over a month ago. The run-up that led to maintaining the category, crowned by the success against Venezia then promoted to Serie A on the last day, earned the Spezia coach the award for best coach in Abruzzo, awarded last night at the Grand Gala of Abruzzo football. “It was a long chase,” explained the coach, returning to the past season. “We had problems related to a team that had suffered relegation the year before. She hadn’t immersed herself in the Serie B environment. Then in January with some transfer moves we managed to do something with the team which managed to have a wonderful return round.”

A team with players of an important level, but who struggled to express themselves. Before the arrival of the former Pisa coach: “The value of the players was high, but many had not immersed themselves in the Serie B environment. I tried to make them understand that they needed to change their tune. Counting only the return round, we finished sixth. We did very well,” continues D’Angelo, who makes no promises for next year: “Serie B is a very tough championship. Let’s see when the market starts and then outline the idea. Now it’s premature.”

A winning path, however, that of the Pescara coach, who in the renewal with Spezia also wrested a Serie A clause, which would be worth an extension for an extra year. And Serie A is one of the coach’s objectives: “Things have to be conquered little by little. I don’t have the presumption to say that I can coach in Serie A. Someone else has to decide that. Now I’m fine where I am. It’s not essential for me, I felt like a coach when I trained kids and I feel like one now in Serie B”, he concludes.
