On Monday 8 July, in Piazza Carducci, in the spaces of the former Convitto Palmieri in Lecce, the Malebolge group, in collaboration with the Biblio-Museale Polo the Bernardini Library, will present “Costa es-posto”, curated by Pierluigi Scardino, a conference on the neo-avantgardes of the 20th century and specifically on the figure of the poet, collagist, performer, visual artist, but also lawyer from Reggio Emilia, Corrado Costa, exponent of the 63 group.

The day will develop in three phases: at 6.30 pm there will be a conference to inaugurate the conference, in dialogue with Chiara Portesine, research fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, as well as editor of the three volumes on Corrado Costa for Argolibri (Poems children, Poems and Theatre), and Simone Giorgino, university researcher at the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Salento, as well as president of the Centro Studi Phoné, will moderate Giancarlo Greco. Subsequently, at 7.30 pm, a temporary exhibition will be inaugurated of some works by Corrado Costa, still unpublished to the general public, created during his stays in the Mazzotta house during the 1980s. To conclude the day there will be readings on texts by Corrado Costa edited by Simone Franco and with interventions by Salvatore Bellanova. The neo-avant-gardes have certainly left an opening, which as a collective, we believe can still be explored and crossed.

Corrado Costa, born in 1929 in Mulino di Bazzano (Parma), lived in Reggio Emilia where he practiced as a lawyer. He was part of Gruppo 63 and collaborated, also as a designer and graphic designer, on the main neo-avant-garde magazines, including “il verri”, “Malebolge”, “cinqueci”, “Tam Tam”, “North”, “Altri Termini” , “Il Caffè”, “Invisible City”, “Abracadabra”, “La Città di Riga”, “Anterem”, “Nuova Corrente”, “Alfabeta”. as a painter he is practically in tune with literary activity and has experienced various phases, including visual and sound poetry.
