CIVITAVECCHIA – Once the counting was closed and the 53 sections set up in the city’s school buildings were demobilised, the electoral commission entered into full activity yesterday and, meeting in the Pincio gymnasium, was engaged in the operations of verifying and checking the votes of the second electoral round of the run-off elections , the one that saw Marco Piendibene, candidate for mayor of the centre-left and Five Star Movement, impose himself on the candidate of the centre-right Massimiliano Grasso. Necessary operations in view of the official proclamation of those elected, which will take place today.
And today will also be the day dedicated to the handover between the now former mayor Ernesto Tedesco and the new Mayor Marco Piendibene. The meeting will be held at 5pm in the Pucci room.
«These are days characterized by standardized procedures – confirmed Piendibene – unfortunately we are living this moment with a great pain in our hearts for the passing of Anna Pallucco, who was also a candidate on the PD list, a friend, committed until the last day . We wanted to cancel all the celebrations, in the end, at the family’s request, we still met at 7pm in Piazza Fratti. It will not be a moment of celebration, clearly, but an opportunity to thank the citizens.”
Surely the next city council, whose composition was verified yesterday by the electoral commission, will be sub judice. In particular, the case is that of the seat of Vincenzo D’Antò who, due to the “mixed” affiliation between the center-left and the M5S alone – leaving out Civitavecchia Populario and the D’Antò list – would initially enter into opposition and immediately pass into the majority, together with 4 M5S councilors (Lucia Aprea, Alessandra Lecis, Dario Menditto and Flavio Fustaino).
But by counting the seats using the D’Hont method, there would be a difference of only one point between the third seat of the Poletti coalition and that of D’Antò. Hence the sure appeal to the TAR of Lazio by the Poletti group. In the event of acceptance by the administrative judges, D’Antò would lose the seat that would instead be gained by the Poletti list, and which would lead to the return to the Pucci hall of the former Tedesco list councilor Barbara La Rosa.
From today the new yellow-red administration led by Piendibene, in discussion with the general secretary, will proceed with the convocation of the first municipal council. While in the meantime we are starting to think about the possible composition of the council.
