Novara – The Igor Volley technical staff is enriched by another member: Gabriele Antola will be assistant coach and sparring partner. Born in Rome in 1983, Antola comes from three years of experience with Volleyrò during the first of which he was also part of the Roma staff that won the women’s A2 championship (2020-2021), while in the last season he was part of the Piacenza staff, in the men’s A1 series. In 2022 he worked with the women’s Under 17 national team and in the last two years he joined the staff of the Bulgarian senior women’s national team.
Gabriele Antola (assistant coach and sparring partner Igor Gorgonzola Novara): “I started with volleyball at a very young age, as a youth player in Rome, at the time in Serie A, and then played for a long time in Serie B and moved on, following an injury, to beach volleyball. I stopped at the time of Covid and in that period Luca Cristofani, then in Rome, called me to collaborate with his staff in A2 and at the same time I also started working with Volleyrò. Today I arrive in Novara and this is a source of pride and enthusiasm for me: there was a first contact months ago but then, unfortunately, there were no conditions for my arrival in the blue team. Then things changed and I am very happy to be able to work with Lorenzo Bernardi and his staff which is of the highest level, in a prestigious club like Novara. I believe there are ideal conditions for me: I will be able to learn every day and at the same time I will be able to pass on something of my own“.
